Religious tenets held by certain Maori clients placed their solicitor, Mr. Quartley, in some difficulty in the Supreme Court tq-day whan Justice Smith suggested certain ’ legal course to pursue. Mr. Quartley responded that he could foresee difficulties as these people were Ratana-ites and did not want to go to law.. “They have told me,” he said, ‘ quite reverently that they putvtheir trust in this case in the hands of ‘Mr. Holmden, Mr. Quartley and the angels.’ ” “Of a mightier Judge,” suggested his Honour, who added that if that was their attitude they probably would not put an affidavit on paper.
