SEVENTEEN RIBS BROKEN
MAN RUN OVER BY MOTOR-CAR. NO CLUE TO DRIVER’S IDENTITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. That the deMfi of David Clark resulted from injuries received when run over by a ear on the wain Makaraka-Matawhero road on November 1, but that the evidence was insufficient to show by whom the car was driven was the verdict of the coroner. Mr. P. H. Harper, after lengthy evidence at the inquest to-day. . On the evening of the date mentioned was found in a dying condition with 17 ribs broken, lying on the road., Evidence showed that deceased was intoxi cated earlier in the night; also that three cars passed during the period when the accident occurred. Two of the. cars were identified but the drivers denied causing the fatal injuries, much of the evidence supporting their denials.
