A man and two women were cpmpiit* ted for trial on a charge of stealing' three cheques valued at £321. The accused are William Alfred Phillips (46). Relle Field (34) and Muriel Hilda, Holmes • (31) . _ ‘ The police alleged that Phillips met a man named Harringtqn in an hotel apd invited him to stay the night. Next day he took him tp a house where the tWq accused women lived. 'When they finally' parted company next day Harringtop had three shillings left. Harrington in evidence said fib Y T oke up and found himself on p ]>ed with Holmes leaping’ over Jiirp feejjng his pockets. Field came ip, saying, “Here, I want to be in thjs.” The magistrate said it was fortunate the payment of tire largest cheque liar bpeu stopped.
