HAWERA ATHLETIC SPORTS
MEETING SUCCESS LAST NIGHT. MANY CLUBS REPRESENTED. With strong teams from New Plymouth, Stratford, Waverley, Patea, Opunake and Eltham, fields were well filled at the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club’s electric light meeting at the Egmont show last night. Handicapping was a feature and the large attendance which braved the bitterly cold weather was provided v.’ith exciting finishes in nearly every event, especially in the men’s 220 yards, where only inches separated the first three.
Though the track v.as slow thcr.> was no rain during the meeting. The Hawer«. Municipal Band supplied music. After the meeting visiting competitors were entertained by the club at a dance.
