ACCUSED MAN DENIES FRAUD
INSURANCE TRANSACTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim,, Last Night. Roy Gladstone Ewart' pleaded not guilty to a- charge that with intent to dcfraul he attempted to obtain £6OO from the Phoenix Assurance Company by allegedly falsely representing that the value of the stock in a mercery shop at which a fire took place was £9OO whereas in fact it was only £9l. He was further charged with making a false declaration with regard to an insurance, claim and pleaded pot guilty, as he also did to three charges : of allegedly receiving sums ranging from £2 2s to £5 IDs from clients of N. Tossman and CompaiiV. furriers, Christchurch, and failing to account for the same, thus committing theft. Several similar theft charges involving sums below £2 were adjourned pending the Supreme Court sitting, to which the accused was committed for trial on the major counts. ( N ./
