FIGURES FOR THE ISLANDS. By Telegraph-:—Press Association. ' Wellington, Last Night. A return is published, in the Gazette showing that the estimated population of New Zealand, including dependencies and the mandated territory, is 1,555,399 The estimated population of Western Samat is 44,990, of the Cook Islands 14,812, and of Tokelau Islands 999. The estimated population of New Zealand, excluding Maoris, is 1,427,035, and the Maori population is 07,593.
