LEVY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT. RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORKER. — t By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Surprise was expressed at a meeting of the council of the Auckland Chambei of Commerce to-day at the clause in the Unemployment Act making it an offence punishable by a fine not exceeding £2O for an employer to retain the services of any person who has failed to register or pay instalments of the levy imposed under the Act. It "as considered that this placed an undue obhoation on . employers. It way decided to refer the matter to the Associated Chambers of Commerce with view to taking concerted action.
