EVERYBODY’S TALKIES. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 P.M.' “Under the Greenwood Tree,” which commenced a return season at Everybody’s, New Plymouth, yesterday, again drew crowded audiences which is a testimony to the entertainment values of this fine British production. It will again be screened at a. special matinee to-day at 2 p.m. and finally to-night at 7.45. Adapted from Thomas Hardy’s famous classic the film is British in production, scenery and acting. Theatregoers will want more like it. Marguerite Allen, John Batten and Nigel Barrie play the leading parts convincingly. Showing in conjunction with “Under the Greenwood Tree” is the Paramount alltalking attraction “Why Bring That Up,” a comedy-drama featuring the Two Black Crows (Moran and Mack) in their first screen effort. Evelyn Brent and Harry Green are also in the cast. “Why Bring That Up” is presented at the" evening performance only. Owing to the length of . this programme to-night screening commences at 7.45 instead of 8 o’clock. Patrons are advised to attend the matinee to avoid the crush tonight. COMMENCING TO-MORROW. “The. Arizona Kid,” which deals with the glamorous days in the old .Southwest before' the coming of the railroads, is said to surpass Warner'Baxter's previous Western audible pictures, “In Old Arizona” and “Romance of Rio Grande,” and again portrays him as a gallant, reckless bandit whose exploits and love affairs form the basis of the exciting plot. Mona Maris is again in the role of Baxter’s leading lady and gives a remarkable performance in a spirited part. Carol Lombard and Mrs. Jiminez have other .leading parts, while Theodor Vou Eltz, Arthur Stone, Hank Mann, Wilfred Lucas, Walter P. Lewis, Sidney Bracy and other favourites, arc in The supporting cast. ’’The Arizona Kid” will head the new programme at Everybody’s commencing to-morrow at 2 and 8 p.m. THE REGENT. “ANNA CHRISTIE” FINALLY. “Anna Christie,” the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer special all-talking attraction starring Greta Garbo with Charles Bickford and Marie Dressier, will be finally presented at The Regent, New Plymouth, to-night. A good supporting programme includes a Laurel-Hardy comedy scream entitled “Brats.” ' COMMENCING TO-MORROW. One of the most amazing - revelations of the. power of underworld politics is made in the story of “The Czar of Broadway,” a Universal production which will be seen at The Regent theatre beginning to-morrow at 2 and 8 p.m. “The Czar of Broadway” presents in a stark realistic manner the political problems of citizens living in the larger citjes.
