RIFLE MATCH FOR DUNEDIN
NEW PLYMOUTH RIFLE CLUB. Teams from H.M.S. Dunedin and the New Plymouth Rifle Club will fire a rifle match to-morrow afternoon at 300 and 500 yard range?, 10 shots and four optional sighters at each range. The arrangements have been adopted to overcome the difficulty of the different rifles and sights in use by the ship and club respectively. Each team will fire five shots and two optional sighter? with 1 their own rifles; the weapons will then be changed and each member of both teams will fire a further five shots and two optional sighters with his opponent’s rifle. This procedure will be followed at each range. The match will commence at 1.30 p.m. A match on the miniature range between teams of ten each from the ship and the lady members of the miniature club is being arranged for Tuesday night, to commence at 7.30. SHORT RANGE HANDICAP. The first stage of the New Plymouth Rifle Club’s short range aggregate handicap was completed yesterday, the scores being: — 300 500 Hep Tl.
The match for the Taranaki Associated Rifle Club’s challenge shield between Hawera (holders) and Patea (challenged) will be fired on the Hawera range on November 22.
