GUY FAWKES’ DAY DISPLAY.

COMPETITION’S FOR BOYS. The night in the year when everybody is not surprised to hear the loud detonations of fireworks and to see the flight of rockets high in the air, is again approaching. Next Wednesday night there is to be a large display of flreworks in Pukekura Park, and as it is some time since such an entertainment was last witnessed here, it will doubtless make a wide appeal. There is also to be a Guy Fawkes competition open to all bovs and valuable prizes have been annciuced. The programme of fireworks Will* contain a larger proportion of large mechanical sets such as rainbow wheels and revolving fountains than seen at previous displays, as these pai ticular pieces are undoubtedly amongst the most popular . items given at any display. Large batteries of Roman candles and the great cascade set, without which no display is complete will also be fired, while the aerial shots will include many of a very brilliant nature. A. parade of guvs and a band concert will precede the display which will be fired shortly after eight o’clock.
