Rec. 10.45 p.m. Brisbane, Oct. 31. Tho-first Sheffield Shield cricket match began to-day against South Australia. Both sides are playing a number of new men. Queensland is captained by Gough. Queensland in first innings' had made 271 runs forjseven wickets (Briggs 108, Thompson 78) at the drawing of stumps.
