INCREASED TAXATION
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FINANCES. BANK OVERDRAFT GREATER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Adelaide, Oct. 22. The Premier and Treasurer, Mr. L. L. Hill, speaking on the third ,/eading of the Taxation Bill, said it had’been necessary to obtain an increased overdraft from the Commonwealth Bank to pay salaries and wages in the Government service. The bank reluctantly agreed to increase the overdraft from £620,000 to £750,000. ’ : The Bill, which proposed to increase income tax to Is Id in the pound and the land tax to a penny in the pound, was passed.
