The secretary presented the balancesheet for provincial funds and the report for the year. The present members for the province were five commissioners, nine secretaries, 49 guiders, 275 guides, 218 brownies, 18 rangers, 12 lone guides. All companies paraded on Anzae Day in their various towns. In the Jellicoe shield competition in home nursing, child nursing and ambulance work, as Hawera and New Plymouth both wished to enter, a preliminary contest was held in New Plymouth and was won by New Plymouth. The New Plymouth team then entered for the shield and gained second place in New Zealand. Taranaki also entered for the Fergusson Cup, an interprovincial competition in needlework and knitting- The results of this were not yet available.

The Brewster Shield for life-saving was won by the High School company. Hawera had held its annual Brownie, Guide and Ranger flower show, and it' had been an unqualified success. A three days’ training session for South Taranaki patrol leaders was conducted in Hawera by the divisional commissioner, Mrs. J. Houston, and the district captain, Mrs. F. C. King. Twen-ty-five leaders attended, representing Hawera, Alton and Manaia. The North Taranaki districts held an athletic sports meeting in competition for a cup presented by the Herbert Smith Trust. Guides from South Taranaki attended the Dominion camp in Wellington in January and Mrs. Houston, divisional i commissioner, did good work as camp ■ secretary. The province sent two Brown i Owls (Mrs. Abraham, Stratford, and Mrs. Whitehead, Hawera), to the, Laughing Owls camp at Otimai, Auckland.

It was with great regret that the resignations have been received of Mrs. Hodson, divisional commissioner for North-Taranaki, and MissfHawken, district commissioner, Mokoia. Both were presented with gold “thanks badges.” Two new district commissioners were welcomed, however—Mrs. T. N. Watt, Opunako, and Mrs. Broad, New Plymouth. • ’ , . . ..
