It completed its. sjt ting to-day and the Acting-Prime Minis ter, Mr. J. E. Fenton, contented himsell with saying: “Wa discussed a numb® of subjects and are meeting again oi October 27.” That date is two days- aftei, the State elections. It is understood the Ministry is seriously divided on the subject .of - publi< servants’ Salary reduction and upon tht best methods of meeting the growing deficit. The position is rendered more embarrassing by the insistent demandfrom within the Labour movement that drastic measures be taken to relieve unemployment. Mr. Fenton declined to comment ot the resolutions of the Federal executive -of the Labour Party which were (I) the nationalisation of banking- and insurance; (2) opposition to wage reduction; (3) the utilisation of the nation’s credit for the stimulation of industry and the liquidation of loans; (4) a reduction ol interest on bank credits; (5) negotiations with Great Britain concerning Aus, tralia’a war indebtedne'ss.
