OPUNAKE NEWS
The Opunake branch of the women’s division held its monthly meeting on Monday afternoon. The president, Mrs. W. L. F. Chambers, presided. Other members present were Mesdames A. Harvey, J. Young, G. Baylis, E. O Hanlon, D. Leahy, T. G. Mitchell, P. Cox and O’Sullivan. It was decided to hold a mart and euchre party in aid of the funds of the Red Cross society. A sum of £2 2s was donated to the Manaia branch for assistance to needy cases.
A successful euchre party in aid of the plunket room building fund was -held in St. Patrick’s Hall on Friday. The ladies’ piflzes were awarded to Mrs. A. O'Brien (first), Miss Mollie Butler (second), and Mrs. D. Ross (consolation), and the men’s to Mr. A. E. Poole (first), Mr. A. Campbell (second), and Mrs. T. N. Watt (consolation). Supper was provided by the Pihama members of the Plunket society.
A euchre party promoted by the ladies of the croquet club oh Wednesday ies of the croquet club was held on Wednesday. . The prize winners were Mrs. D. J. Tlhomas and Mr. R, E. Peat; 6 upper was provided, by club members.
