Mr. F. A. L. Hunt, Wellington, is visiting New Plymouth. He is staying at the°Criterion. . Mr. W. J. Moore, 1 who is staying at the White Hart, is in New Plymouth to arrange for a series of lectures Y famous lecturer and author, Mr. William Holmes, of Los Angeles, California. Messrs. J. E. Lovelock (Dunedin) and H. A; Smitll (Hastings), students at tne Otago medical school, have been selected as the nominees of the Otago University, for Rhodes Scholarships, states a Press Association message from Dunedin. Mr G Knowles, Opunake, has been appointed to the dual position of clerk of the Opunake Town Board and seeietary of the Harbour Board. Mr. Knowles was secretary of the Harbour Board previously. There were about 40 applicants. Guests at the Hotel Imperial, New Plymouth, include Messrs. H. Sheppard, H. J. Durward (Wellington), P. N. White, J. H. Bretherton (Wanganui), Grey Mace, T. Wrigley (Auckland), V)• F. Kearney (Palmerston North), G. Craig Brown (Australia) and Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Dunslieath (Wellington).

Professor P. G. Hornell and Mr. R. W. Werner, eminent Swedish geologists who have been investigating at Arapuni arrived at New Plymouth yesterday to inspect the New Plymouth borough hydro-electric undertakings at Mangamahoe. They will return south this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales is giving a series of fotir dinner parties to enable the Dominion delegates to the Imperial Conference to meet well-known figures in public life whom they otherwise would have no opportunity of meeting, states a London cable. He entertained South African and Free State delegates ou Wednesday' night, when the guests included’ Admiral Field and Kipling.
