FAILURE OF CHILTON HOUSE
BANKRUPTCY OF PRINCIPAL. ■ MANY INVOLVED TRANSACTIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 15. A meeting of creditors in the, bankrupt estate of-Agnes Ward, principal of Chilton House School, was held to-day. The statement of accounts showed unsecured creditors £BBl life lid, secured creditors £10,(15'5, and the estimated value of securities £11,720. The list of guarantors included a number of prominent citizens. The amount guaranteed was £4450. Bankrupt’s sworn statement traversed involved business, transactions in connection with bankrupt’s purchase and carrying on of the school and from The Terrace to Island Bay. A motion was submitted that the case should be placed in the hands of /the Crown Solicitor to see if steps 'should be taken under the Bankruptcy Act, but this was negatived. The assignee said it was his duty to p.ace the circumstances before the Crown Solicitor if 'he considered the circumstances demanded such a course.
