URENUI CRICKET CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. TEAM TO ENTER COMPETITION. The annual meeting of the Urenui Cricket Club was held on Monday night and was attended by 20 members arid intending members, Mr. C. Wilson presided. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £7 16s. 4d. Mr. Wilson stated that the club had been practically out of existence for a number of years and it was felt from the keenness displayed by members of number of young clubs which had been functioning for a few seasons in. the district that, the time was opportune to revive interest in the home club.

H, Fuller and I, Sheard; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Wiley; custodian, Mr. A. Wiley; social committee, Messrs. G. Smith, M. Rogers, W. Sheard, V. Marsh, I. Sheard, 0. Skelton and A. Wiley. It was decided to hold the opening day during the coming week-end, when arrangements in connection with the commencement of the fixtures would be finalised. An incentive for high scoring in the. forthcoming fixtures was provided by Mr. W. H. Fuller, who offered to donate ’ a bat to the first member storing a cen- | tury. •| URJENUI TOWN HALL. The. energetic social committee elected at a public meeting recently has been ■ . working diligently to provide funds for. 1 ; carrying out necessary renovations and improvements to the Urenui hall. most successful and enjoyable evening Visitors were present from Waitara, Pukearuhe, Uruti and -surrounding districts and the complete arrangements made\ by Mr. C. 'Henwood, the secretary, assured a good time for all. The dance music was dispensed by Renton’s orchestra and extras were provided by Miss ,E. Gibson. The catering arrangements were in the hands of a committee comprising Mesdames C. Henwood, G. Loveridge, D. Des Forges and F. Clark. GENERAL AND PERSONAL. The reputation given dairy herds throughout this district of being of high testing strains is borne but by the Taranaki Herd Testing Association’s monthly averages for August. The 151 cows tested averaged 5841 b of milk with a 5 per cent, test and' 29.171b' fat, Ahe highest herd of 30 cows 35.21 b of fat, and the lowest herd of 25 cows 21.41b' fat. During the hall committee’s dance on Thursday night the competition held on behalf of the Sports Club’s funds was finalised, the winner of the set of blankets being Mr. V. Tate", Waitara. Messrs. W. H. Fuller and C. Dunbar, , senr., have returned from an enjoyable trip to Vava», Tongan Islands. Mrs. Clemow, who has been spending a'holiday with Mrs. G. N Fuller, has returned to Toko.
