HAWERA WINTER SHOW

FIVE DAYS INSTEAD OF SEVEN. RESULT OF EXHIBITORS’ PETITION. At the last Hawera winter show there was a feeling prevalent among exhibitors that seven days was too long for the fixture. A petition was forwarded to the directors, who at a meeting on Friday decided to reduce the duration of the, show» to five days. . The; principal objection raised by the stallholders was that the exhibition ran into two weeks, which involved considerable expense. When preparations 'Hid dismantling, were taken into consideration the show actually lasted, as far as the exhibitors were concerned, from Tuesday till Thursday of the following week, It was pointed out by stallholders that the National Dairy Show at Palmerston North exteudel over only five-days, all in the one week. The petition, which was signed by practically all the stallholders, read as follow:,- “We, the stall mlders in your winter show, hereby petition your committee to hold a five-day show, from Tuesday to Saturday, as at Pa’merstou North. The past two years have been a huge financial loss to stallholders by the prolonging of the show into two weeks, and we feel sure that more business could be done with better results to all concerned by holding a five day show.” • • , The question caused considerable discussion among the directors. Eventually, it was decided that in view of the present financial stringency the 1931 fixture should continue for five days only'. The dates will depend upon arranging a sequence with Palmerston North. The position will be reviewed next year. HAWERA SHOV7 APPOINTMENTS. JUDGES AND STEWARDS.
