BLAZE IN BLENHEIM SHOPS
SMART WORK BY THE BRIGADE. EXTENSIVE. DAMAGE TO STOCK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, Sept. 2G. Smart work by the brigade quelled an outbreak of fire in'the business- area of Blenheim at an early hour this morning. The. fire occurred in a shop in Marken Street occupied by R. G. Smart, clothier and mercer, and W. Bernitt, hat manufacturer. Extensive damage was done to the contents of the shop, but that hat I factory escaped with practically no damage. The stock of hats, however, in Berratt’s shop was badly damaged. The premises were owned by I’. Kerris and covered for £<>Uo in the Commercial Union Ofliee. Berratt’s stock was insured for £<>so in the Phoenix Oliiee and £lst on the fittings in tiie Sun Ofliee. Berratt’s stock and materials were insured for £BOO in the Sun Ofliee.
