CABINET HASTENING SCHEME. terms' of new taxes awaited. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 12.55 a.m. Sydney, Sept. 26. As the outcome of persistent Press criticism and pressure by State Ministers, the Federal Labour Cabinet is now hastening its scheme for balancing tlie Budget. Cabinet meets at Canberra on Wednesday, when details will probably be announced. More taxation is inevitable, but its nature has not yet been disclosed.
The question of cutting Federal servants’ salaries has not .been settled owing to the hostility of a section of the Ministry to this course.
