NO IMPORTATION OF LABOUR
-ENGLISH FIRM IN DOMINICK ' - ’ RUMOURS STRENUOUSLY DENIED. ■ By Telegraph.—Frees Association, 2 Dunedin, Last Night. Armed with some knowledge of shadowy facts contained in a rumour to the effect that Messrs. Cadbury, Fry, Hudson, Ltd., were about to import factory labour from tlie Old Country, a ie-7 porter interviewed Mr. Sara, directot of the company, his object being to verify or deny the statements included in the y• • current stories. Mr. Sara’s denial was given in -a manner as emphatic as was possible. He said that in the early days of the rumour he was inclined tb treat the whole thing as a joke, but aS the weeks went by and still the story grew it was deemed advisable that the firm should post in different parts of the factory notices’denying tli£ matter. “It is all 'stuff and nonnsense,” ton- — tinued Mr. Sara. “One of our strongest aims in coming down here and associating with a local firm was to have the assurance that plenty ' of skilled labour would be available. It has never been in our minds to import labour from the Old Country, and we hope to do all we can to absorb workers in New Zealand.”
