DANCE AT OAONUI HALL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Opunake branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in St. Patrick’s Hall on Wednesday evening, Mr. F. Young presiding. A circular was read from the executive setting out reasons for the establishment of a Farmers’ Union publication. The organiser not being present, no further action was taken. The dance in aid of the Oaonui Hall funds, held in the Oaonui Hall on Wednesday evening, was very successful. A perfect floor and the best of music by Henderson’s Orchestra made the work of the master of ceremonies, Mr. W. Rae, a pleasure. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Newman and Mr. O. Coombes, and the balloon dance by Miss M. Glengarry and Mr. IV. Gadsby. Other novelty dances were streamer and snowball. Extras were played by Miss T. Arden and Mr. Brooker. A soft drinks stall in charge of Mr. Charles Winn did a brisk business. The competition for the turkey was won by Mr. Colin Bishop. A sit-down supper was provided, the ladies’ committee comprising • Mesdames H. Ibbotson, S. M. Coombes, Wilson and Dobbin, Misses E. and M. Murcher, Margaret Wilson and Joan Ibbitson.
