LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION

ARRIVAL OF NORMAN GILLESPIE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Under engagement to tile Napier Boxing Association, Norman Gillespie, lightweight champion of Australia, arrived by the Maunganui to-day, accompanied by his manager, Sammy Chapman. Gillespie is to meet Johnny Leckie at Napier on October 4. ' They have met before in New Zealand, in a match at Dunedin in 1928, and a good deal of interest has been caused by the prospect" of a second fight. On the last occasion Leckie won narrowly on points. In his time Gillespie has held five titles —the bantam, feather and lightweight championships of Victoria and the feather and lightweight championships of Australia. He knocked out- Jack Robertson for the title earlier in the year. Gillespie goes to Napier to-morrow.
