FITZROY SCHOOL BALL

MOST COLOURFUL SPECTACLE CROWD FILLS THE BUILDING. Packed until children and parents could scarcely move, the Fitzroy Hall last night presented a colourful spectacle on the occasion of the school ball. Red and black streamers were draped from a square in the centre of the hall and the bunting was gaily illumined by multi-coloured lamps from above, while under these decorations several hundred children, garbed in many styles and many colours, made merry. Once again the Fitzroy School ball had proved a great success. During the evening Air. J. Burr, chairman of the school committee, congratulated the parents on the interest they had shown by costuming the children. The money raised by this effort was not spent on improving the school buildings, but was devoted solely to sports purposes, and every child would participate in the benefits. Credit is due for the manner in which the supper was dispensed to the big gathering, but sitting after sitting of children were attended without any disorder and for the last youngsters the tables were spread with a wealth of delicacies even as for the first. The ladies in charge of this department were Alesdames Burr, Yardley; Chivers, Hunter, Stevens, Buttimore and Florence, and they were assisted by the members of the school staff.

A fine dance programme was provided by Alartin’s Orchestra, while during the supper interval extras were played by Alesdames Crone and Goldsworthy. Air. J. A. Burr and the members of the school committee were responsible for the decorations and assisted in managing the children on the floor.
