WORKLESS IN INGLEWOOD
£750 AUTHORISED PLACING OF MARRIED MEN CONSTRUCTION OF BEDFORD ROAD. PROMPT ANSWER TO REQUESTS. (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. As a result of representations made to the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. W. M. Taverner, on Tuesday by Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P. for Stratford, regarding unemployment in Inglewood, the Minister has advised, the member for Stratford that he has had the matter investigated and that he has approved the authorisation of £750 on accont to enable work to be put in hand by the Public Works Department on the construction of the Bedford Road. The Minister adds that instriictions, have been issued to the district engineer at Stratford to confer immediately with the unemployment committee in Inglewood and to arrange to place 16 married men. '
Mr. Polson has received a telegram of thanks from the district for his prompt action in relieving the situation.
