LANCE V. GIBSON MEMORIAL

FUND FOR WIDOW AND CHILDREN. / APPEAL TO TARANAKI* PEOPLE. The citizens of New Plymouth and the inhabitants of the county of Taranaki have been invited by the committee set up at a public meeting recently held in Stratford, to contribute to a memorial fund, which is being raised in Taranaki for the benefit of the widow and three infant children of the late Mr. Lance V. Gibson, who sacrificed his life in rescue work on Mount Ejjmont on August 3, 1930. With a view to assisting the above very worthy cause a united appeal is now made to the citizens of New Plymouth and the inhabitants of the Taranaki county 1 to subscribe towards this fund, which will be administered for the benefit of the widow and children of the late Mr. Gibson by trustees appointed by the committee. Having made a very careful investigation of the circumstances, and being convinced of the necessity for the memorial fund, we can, with every confidence, submit this appeal for most sympathetic consideration by the public: Subscriptions will be received by the Taranaki Daily News and at the offices of the New Plymouth Borough Council and the Taranaki County Council, and will be acknowledged t .‘ough the Press. Gibson , Memorial Fund Committee is seeking the co-operation of residents throughout the province of Taranaki. Since the Taranaki Daily News circulates over the whole province, the editor will be glad to receive a contribution to the fund from anyone in any district who may find it easier to send at once to the.
