RANKLEY PARK FUNCTION

AN ENJOYABLE INGLESIDE. y The first ingleside to be held in the Frankley Park Hall took place last r night, about SO couples spending a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The gathering was conducted by the New Plymouth Caledonian Society in conjunction /with the Frankleigh Park Hall Committee. ■ . - .. . Chieftain J. F. Andrews was piped into the hall, which . as decorated with •greenery, by Pipers R. Reid and McKinnon. ( He opened the function, welcoming the people in place of Chief D. E. Brown, who arrived later in the evening. He explained that it had been decided to hold an ingleside only on the previous Friday, and arrangements had been rushed somewhat. Martin’a Orchestra provided bright music for the modern dances, while the two pipers mentioned, with Piper F. Goble and Drummer R. Cumming, played for the dances. Songs were given by Miss Hay and Mr. McOlymont. Mr. H. Stavely and Miss N. Stavely contributed solo dances, the former the sheann triubhais and the jig, while Miss Stavely danced the Highland Fling. The haggis was piped in by Pipers ’ Goble and McKinnon, Piper R. Reed delivering the time-honoured ode. A delightful supper was provided by a ladies’ committee comprising Mesdames A. E. Pavis, W. E.; Bendall, F. Harrison, J. Booker, D. Beggs and E. Beale sen. The hall committee which woitked with the members of the Caledonian Society to ensure the success of the evening, included Messrs J. W. Spindler (chairman), D. Beggs (secretary), T. Paton, E. Beale jun., F. Harrison, A. Codd and A. Williams.
