BIG ATTRACTION TO-NIGHT. Songs, recitations, dances, sketches and a one-act play are included in the comprehensive bill of fare that is to be presented in the Stratford Town Hall to-night by “The Bright Lights.” This is a type of entertainment that should find favour with the most critical of audiences, for it embraces a wide range of subjects ! t the variety of which there should be enjoyment for all. The entertainment is in aid 'of the Stratford primary school heating fund. Described as a variety entertainment the production will live up to its title in no half-hearted manner. The first portion of the programme comprises 15 items, all different in character and performed by artists who have been carefully chosen in order that their capabilities may be given the best medium for expression. Fox Movietone musical comedy, which will be screened for the last time to-night. Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, making t..eir musical comedy debut, gave an amazing performance. Both have pleasing voices and sang their song numbers in a manner that brought bursts of spontaneous applause from the opening night’s audience. Miss Gaynor also blossoms out as a dancer and proves she is as proficient in the terpsichorean a¥t as she is in acting.. Sharon Lynn, Frank Richardson, Marjorie White and .El Brendel, in tne supporting cast of principals, gave excellent performances and received their fair share of acclaim, also . De Sylva, Brown and Henderson, who authored “Sunny Side Up,” from dialogue to words and music, have “clicked” with their first audible picture production and proved they are as talented in this medium as they are in concocting successful stage musical comedies. ELTHAM CRICKET CLUB. NEW PLAYERS AVAILABLE. Several new players are available in Eltham for the coming cricket season, and the club considers prospects for a Thursday team bright. Last season the expenditure was £lO 6s 6d in excess of income and difficulty was experienced in securing full; teams for the Saturday competition. The annual meeting of .the club on Wednesday decided to enter a team for the Thursday competition. Officers elected for the year were:—• Patron, Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, MjP.; president, Mr. I. J. Bridger; eight vicepresidents; secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. Parton; dub captain, Mr. Kerr; management committee, Messrs C. Burrell, Thomas, Kerr and Arthur. Mr. Biirrell was appointed chairman of the commtitee. Messrs Burrell and Parton were appointed delegates to the provincial centre conference.
