PRACTICAL WORK TESTED. HAWERA EXAMINATIONS RESULTS I The names of successful candidates at the practical examinations, conducted at Hawera this week for the Associated Board of the Royal Academy oi®aiusic and the Royal College of Music by Dr. R. Harris, Taranaki organiser for the proposed official publication of the New Zealand Farmers Union, was a visitor to Hawera yesterday and interviewed the South Taranaki executive of the union. Sympathy was expressed by the > Hawera Scottish Society on Wednesday with Mrs. J. W. Vclvin in the death of her sister. GENERAL ITEMS. The annual meeting of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club will be held in the Hawera Borough Chambers on Thursday, September 11, at S p.m. A collision between two sedan motor- ( cars occurred on the Main South Road, Pihama, on Tuesday. One was driven 1 by Mr. \V. Lambie, Pihama, and the other by Mr. J. Wilkinson, of the Pihama Dairy Company. The occupants of both cars escaped injury, though the cars were damaged. With the object of creating enthusiasm for hockey at Opunake two Hawera teams gave an exhibition game on Wednesday afternoon. As a result of the match it is probable that Opunake will form a club. The Matapu Hall Committee will hold another of its popular dances this evening. Henderson’s orchestra will play the music and free buses will run from > Opunake and liltham. The proceeds a.re iu aid of the hall funds.
