MOA SUPPLIERS MAKE MERRY
SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL HELD. For a few hours last night suppliers to tlie Moa Dairy factory cast aside all the worries of the farm and ceased to trouble as to whether or- not the butter market had reached bedrock. For it was the occasion of their second annual social, and with joyous abandon they, together with their wives, their sons and their daughters, and their friends; set out to spend a merry evening. Only one glance into the Inglewood Town Hall was sufficient to convince one that they had succeeded. The hall was crowded, over 250 couples being present. It was reminiscent of the gathering last year on the occasion of the opening of the new factory, the success of which function had decided suppliers to make the gathering an annual one. That they were justified in doing so was manifest last night, and there is no doubt that in future the Moa suppliers’ annual social will be looked forward to as the event of the year in the Inglewood district.
The committee had set out with thoroughness to maintain the high standard set by the initial social. The floor had been given a special preparation. The couples glided gaily along to the inspiring airs of the latest musical “hits,” dispensed by Boulton’s dance band. At times the floor was all too crowded, but what mattered that! Mr. W. V. McIntyre as master of ceremonies saw to it that there was not a dull moment. For non-dancers euchre took up the early part of the evening, so many tables being engaged that it was necessary to have an overflow in the corridor. Messrs. T. Lindsay, J. Stachurski and Master M. Lindsay had charge of tile euchre. The prizes were won by Miss M. Moratti 1, Mrs.«©’Keefe 2, Mr. J. Moratti 1, Miss Klenner (as mail) 2.
Sitppei" was a- special feature. The task of catering for such a large crowd was no light one, but’Mr. J. Somerton and his staff accomplished it with the minimum of delay. Supper extras were played by Miss R. Nicholls. The committee responsible for the organisation comprised Messrs. R. B. Sutton (chairman), J, Stachurski, 11. Broadmore. E. Clbtigli, F. S. Burson, J. Reeves, A. Winter, C. W. Baldwin, W. V. Mclntyre, V. Dravitski and J. Penn (secretary).
