WAIPAWA BY-ELECTION
MR. TUCKER REFORM CANDIDATE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Waipukurau, Last Night. A large gathering of Reform supporters in the Waipawa electorate this afternoon unanimously selected Mr. William Tucker, wool merchant, of Clive, as the Reform candidate in the co.-.test for the Waipawa seat renedered vacant by the death of Sir George Hunter. The candidate was born at Clive in 1879. A fellmonger and wool merchant by trade, he lived some years at Gisborne. While there he was a member of the Gisborne Borough Council and the Cook Hospital Board. He returned to Hawke’s Bay in 1923. At present he is a member of the Hawke’s Bay County Council. He is a man of. strong Conservative principles, and is a fluent and able speaker.
