MAKETAWA DAIRY COMPANY. OUTPUT AND PAYMENTS. Some interesting figures showing the remarkable increase in production that has taken place in tho district since the Maketawa Dairy Company was established in- 1896, also the way the payments to suppliers have generally increased, were submitted by Mr. J. Brown, chairman of directors, at the annual meeting of the company yesterday. The figures showed that the output has increased more than 760 per cent., whilst the payment per found of butterfat last year, despite the low values ruling, was nearly 250 per cent, greater than in the first year, when it was 7%d. It was not until the factory had been established 17 years that the payment reached Is per pound fat. The chairman remarked that suppliers then thought they’ were “made.” Mr. Brown has been continuously chairman, with the exception of the first year. The figures submitted were; —
