CYCLIST KILLED BY CAR
FINDING AT THE INQUEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, August 27. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of Elizabeth Irvins, aged 30, who was knocked off her bicycle in the Riccarton Road by a motor-car driven by . Edgar Clement Mann on the evening of August ’2, was held by Mr. Young, S.M.i A verdict was returned “That deceased; died from injuries through being knocked off her bicycle by a motor-car.” . The magistrate said that, if Mann had been keeping a proper look-out he should have been able to see the cyclist in front of him. The accident was due to Mann not keeping a proper look-out. The brakes on the car were ineffective, but even if they had not been so the accident would not have been averted. The matter of faulty brakes and bad lights was for the police.
