FINE PROSPECTS. FOR. SATURDAY. (By “Moturoa.”) Tf the weather promises to keep good there seems to be every prospect of the Taranaki Hunt Club enjoying a record meeting on Saturday, and seldom has there been so much interest taken in the gathering as this year. Acceptance day brought a splendid response from Taranaki owners, with the result that’ every field carded for Saturday’s racing will be of a nice size. This, should stimulate the' betting and with the winners well concealed by the handicapper, Mr. H. Coyle, .there,;should . be a wide field for speculation, The tiacks this week have’; been in, perfect order, the course proper’ bearing a fine sole of grass, and. the lawns and appointments are in excellent condition.

The full steeplechase course is now finished and horse’s will- have the benefit of schooling over the, majority of obstacles at the final gallops this morn-; ing. Already horses from different parts of the province are making their appearance at New Plymouth and the tracks this week have assumed a very busy appearance. Practically 'all the leading horsemen'of the North Island! will be attending the meeting and the standard of race riding should show an .improvement on other years.
