VISITOR’S HEAD GASHED.
FOUL ’LAY AT WELLINCTOM ASSAULT IN STREET ALLEGED. STRUCK WITH BOTTLE OF BEER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 27. Admitted .to hospital with a gashed head and cut hands, a man named Les- , lie Wilson alleged that he was the victim of foul play. It was'stated that he came to Wei-, lington from Te Kuiti, and was seeking a room in which to spend the night in. Abel Smith Street. He was met by two men and inquired whether they knew of a suitable room. The pair said they did and asked him to go with them. The party went along towards the Basin Reserve, and when they wer® near the rear gate of the Technical Col-" lege it is alleged that Wilson, was struck over the head with a full bottle of beer, being knocked unconscious a,nd then robbed. At this stage the daretaker of the Technical College put in an apjiearance and the assailants fled. The police were called and Wilson was taken to hospital, where he waa found to have a gash on the forehead, another wound at the back of the head, and cuts upon hia hands. Wilson is about 36 years of age. It was found that - he had lost 10s, though £3 10s in a small inside pocket had not been discovered,. Two stitches were inserted in his forehead. No arrests have been made.
