OLD RESIDENTS FAREWELLED

DEPARTURE FROM HUIRANGI. Mr. and Mrs. -N. 0. Heppeli, old resi-. dents of Huirangi who are moving to New Plymouth, were, farewelled at a crowded social gathering in the Huirangi Hall on Saturday evening. Mr. R. G. Wells, one of the oldest residents, made Mr. and Mrs. Heppeli the present of a chiming clock and a cake stand. The public services of the guests were spoken of by Mr. Wells. They had always been willing to help in sickness and misfortune. They had taken an interest in church matters, and Mrs. Heppeli was leader of the branch of the Red'Cross organisation. Mr. Heppeli had always been connected with sports activities of the district. ■ Mr. Wells expressed the hope, in conclusion, that Mr. and Mrs. Heppeli would continue to prosper and be seen in the district again. Community singing was led by Mr. Wells. Mr. F. Partridge entertained with humorous recitations. Music for dancing was played by Mr. Sampson, Waitara, and Mr. E. Rowe. Extras were played by Miss D. Cole, Mrs. Pennington and Mrs. Sarten.
