400 SENTENCED TO DEATH BATTALION'S ALLEGED RISING ONE .MAN IN TEN EXECCTED By Telegraph-—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. London, Aug. 21. A sensational despatch from Fez has been published in Berlin. It gives details of an. alleged mutiny in the Foreign Legion resulting in 400 legionnaires bein sentenced to death. 'J he eentenee was actually carried out in forty cases. A whole battalion mutinied when about to go into action. Every man was disarmed and sentenced according to the French custom. One in every ten was told to fall out and was shot. The survivors were sentenced to life penal =ervi tude.
Among those shot, it is alleged, weic 24 Germans, three Australians, two Bulgarians and 11 Russians.
