FAREWELL TO MR. FORBES

FUNCTION AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Wellington City Council at a special meeting this afternoon decided that a civic farewell should be accorded the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, who will leave shortly for the Imperial Conference. The Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup), moving a motion to that effect', said that as Wellington was the. capital city it was fitting that Mr. Forbes should be tendered the city’s good wishes. The farewell would be of a particularly nonpolitical character, the speakers to be the Leader of the Opposition, the Leader of the Labour Party, and the Mayor. The council supported the proposal. The function will take place on the evening of August 28.
