HARRIER CHAMPIONSHIPS
THOMPSON WINS'JUNIOR CONTEST SENIOR TROPHY HELD BY BROWN.' Weather conditions were unfavourable for the senior and junior championships of the Nevi Plymouth Harrier Club on Saturday, but in spite of the heavy going good times were registered in each of the races. The junior championship was decided over a course of four miles, while the seniors were required to cover six miles—twice round the racecourse and cr.ce over the Graham Cup course. The. results are; —
JUNIORS. A. J. Thompson, 27min ISsec I A. C. Sadler, 27min 25sec 2 R. Haymer, 27min‘ 55sec 3 G. Lander and M. Kendrick, who finished fourth and fifth, were the only others to start. The senior championship was keenlycontested by the twelve starters. Brown, the holder of the championship, had a lead of about 100 yards from Walsham in the first lap, with Kingston a similar distance behind. The rest of the field was fairly evenly strung out. Brown maintained his lead in the second lap and wen easily. He will hold the Dalgleish Cup for a further 12 months, A train’s race was run in conjunction with the senior championship, the first six being the champion team. The places were:-— IL J. Members of the teams will run in the club colours.
