GENERAL AND PERSONAL.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) There was an exceptionally severe frost last Saturday morning, many residents of the Uruti township being put to a o-reat deal of inconvenience with water-pipes and taps which burst. The rainfall records show .that 5.35 inch fell during July, the maximum fall being 1.96 inch. There were 14 days on which rain fell. ’ Young calves and lambs are making their appearance in this district. Grass has not come away as well as usual owing to the very cold weather experienced lately. .Most of the farmers have finished top-dressing. ’ The cricket club will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, and it is hoped to get an° early start this season. Tennis enthusiasts are getting busy and will be holding a dance shortly. . Quite a number of the residents have undertaken the trip to Welling to see the fourth Test. ' , . . There was a fair attendance at the clearance sale at Mr. S.
