NEW PLYMOUTH SPEEDWAY
PROPOSAL TO FORM COMPANY. . .With a view to forming a company to build an up-to-date speedway in the town, Mr. George Sutherland, who was responsible for the construction of the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway in Wellington, is visiting New lilymouth. A stadium which jvill scat 7000 people is planned, complete with lighting, track and pits. The latest electric starting column, at present not instituted in New Zealand, will be used. It prevents confusion in starting. Riders leave their marks by lights controlled by the starter. - The track will be 440 yards in circumference and 00 lights will be placed found, the track. The cost is estimated at £7OOO and races are to be held once a week. The stadium Would also' be available for cycling and riding, as well as dirt track riding, . ' •
