STUFF HEROES ARE MADE OF
ENLARGED ADRENAL GLANDS. EXPERIMENTS WITH A CAT. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, Aug. 7. , Heroes are simply people with enlarged adrenal glands, according to Mrs. M. G. Adams, lecturer on biology at Cambridge University. She told the Cambridge summer school that if had been found when a man distinguished himself in the face of danger ho was under the influence of a substance called adrenalin, which flowed from adrenal glands into the blood. “We found when a cat arched its back and spat fire in the presence of a dog it was due to the presence of this substance,” she said. “If adrenalin is injected into the blood of a cat putting beside the lire the effect will be the same as if the dog arrived. Adrenalin can be manufactured in the laboratory by the distillation of coal tai’, so now we know what heroes are made of.”
