OPUNAKE NEWS
The horse fair at Opunake on Wednesday was well attended. Bidding was not very keen and sales were in favour of buyers. The best half-draughts unbroken realised from £l2 to £23, and good mediums from £7 19s. to £l3. The nest urice was that given for a yearling celt. £ll 10s. The horses broken to harness were not keenly sought. Prices ranged from £6 10s. to £l5. Hacks were cneap and prices realised were from £7 10s. down to £5. The euchre party held in aid of the burf Club’s funds on Wednesday evening was well attended. The prizewinners were: Ladies, Miss L. W. Whittington 1; Mrs. I. M. Guild 2; men, Mr. A. Fever 1; Mr. 0. Coombes 2; lucky table, Mesdames R. Jenkin and F. Maindonald. Miss Wiekens and Mr. Langton. Mr. J. N. Stephenson won the competition for the cake. The organisers, Mesdames Byars and Brown, served supper.
