BETTER DAIRY CONTROL
AMENDED REGULATIONS
LICENSE DEPENDS ON QUALITY.
"-MODIFIED” CHEESE ABOLISHED.

Amendments to the Dairy Regulations are published in the Gazette to-night. It is provided that a company’s certificate may be cancelled if the quality of dairy produce is intentionally made inferior to the quality that could be attained having regard to the relevant circumstances.
A veto is imposed on the erection in any supplying dairy, of milking machinery which fails to comply with the requirements- set out in the regulations, and after - June 1, 1931, it will be unlawful for rubberware 'to be Used 'in connection with'the milking of cowsby machinery unless it complies with 1 the requirements;" A sub-clause is -insetted .-to:-the effect That- all milk' or' cream intended- for delivery :to a ‘manufacturing dairy shall be protected at all times against the entry ■of any bird, rodent •or other animal. ... All references, to ."modified” milk cheese in the clause, dealing with cheese manufacture are- dek’ed.
In grading, full-cream factory cheese or standardised. milk cheese as from August 1, 1930, the. maximum . points for allotment - are- to be 45 for flavour, 20 : for body,. 20 for ; .closeness, 10 for colour and .5 for finish. ~
. No person ,isto .export, or be concerned in the export-,to the United -Kingdom pf any butter containing less than 1} per .cent, or mere., than.2 per cent. ( by weighf bf ; eoprmop.salt, except;,where satisfactory evidence, has,; been . submitted to. the,'Director, of the Dairy. Division of a request from.an overseas buyer for a variation of this, -requirement. .
