SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP
ARNST, CHRISTCHURCH, WINS.
KEEN SHOOTING FOR TITLE.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The seventeenth annual New Zealand sparrow-shooting championship was contested to-day under the auspices of the Springston Gun Club at Sockburn. It was won by R. Arnst, Christchurch. There were 52 entries from all parts of the Dominion. The prize money was divided among six competitors who tied in the first shoot and who later competed in a shoot-off.
Tho six were R. Arnst (Christchurch), H. Clinch' (King Country), W. R. Heney (Christchurch), R. Mcllwrick (Soutn Canterbury), R. E. Farrow (W’aikati; and J. Simpson (Christchurch). All six killed nineteen birds. In the shootoff of five birds Arnst,. Clinch, Heney and Mcllwrick were all left in the match. They decided on' a first-miss-out. Heney and Mcllwrick lost the ninth bird and Clinch lost the eleventh bird, leaving Arust the winner.
