FLEET OF BIG DIRIGIBLES QUICK EMPIRE ACTION URGED APPEAL MADE TO CANADA By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 9.5 p.m. Ottawa, Aug. 6. Addressing the Canadian Club to-day in the presence of the Prime Minister Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King and the Pre-mier-Elect, Mr. R. B. Bennett, Sir Denniston Burney, designer of Rlffi), urged Canada to take the next step in putting the British Empire in the forefront of airship transportation through the inauguration of a trans-Atlantic service between Britain and Canada before the service between Germany and the United States planned by Dr. Hugh Eckener was under way.
Sir Denison asked for. the formation of a committee of prorninent Canadian business men to. investigate the situation in the next few days and decide whether the Canadian Government and business interests were prepared to back a trans-Atlantic air service. With the views of the committee before him he would be able to lay a concrete proposition before the British Government on his return to London. A fleet bf ships capable, of a GOOO-mile flight with 190 passengers and ten tons of°mail was proposed by JSir Dennison.
