HAWERA BOXING ASSOCIATION.

REMITS FOR CONFERENCE. At a meeting of the Hawera Boxing Association on Monday night there were present Messrs. G. Meyrick (chairman), W. S. Moore, E. T. Simon, A. 11. Shaw, W. Cropp, A. H. Larkman, J. Frcyne and S. R. Veitch. The Stratford association forwarded its approval of the selection of R. Furze (welterweight), D. Roebuck (flyweight), and E. Griffin (middleweight) to represent Taranaki at the New Zealand Boxing championships at Palmerston North. The secretary and Messrs.. Simon and Moore were instructed to attend a meeting of delegates of the four Taranaki associations to discuss ways and .means of sending the nominees to the championships. It was decided to request the delegate of the Taranaki association to the Dominion conference to act as Hawera’s representative. The following remits were forwarded for discussion at the conference: —“That the secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council be instructed to circularise all boxing associations, say, once a month, giving names, postal addresses, class and any information available concerning professional boxers resident in New Zealand and open to engagement”. “That a junior lightweight class for amateurs, with the weight not exceeding 9st. 61b., be instituted.”

HAWERA GUN CLUB. W. O’BRIEN WINS C.A.C. TROPHY. »Some excellent shooting was witnessed at the week-end meet of the Hawera Gun Club, when the valuable Colonial Ammunition Company’s trophy was competed for. Tho trophy was annexed by W.
