HAWERA LADIES’ GOLF

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. The draw for the Hawera Ladies’ Golf Club’s championships has been arranged and the first round will be commenced immediately. In the senior division no qualifying rounds were necessary, ( as there are only 13 seniors and all are eligible to compete. The draw is: Mrs. Mcßae v. Mrs. Wake, Miss E. Burgess v. Miss H. Burgess, Miss D. Hawken v. Mrs. Dalgetty, Mrs. McQuin v. Mis’s T. Gibson, Miss Richardson v. Mrs. Dickie; byes, Mrs. Thomson, Mrs. Walkley and Miss K. Robertson. In the junior division two qualifying rounds were played, the successful competit -rs jeing Miss G. Death, Mrs. Gabites, Miss J. Powdrell, Miss McCormack, Miss V. Death, Mrs. Hawthorne, Miss E. Hawken, Mrs. Whitehead, Mrs. McAnerin, Mrs. Davy, Mrs. Treweek, Miss Hogan, Mrs, Rudge. Miss W. Huggins, Mrs. Fearon and Mrs. Rota. In spite of a fine day last Friday the scores for the second qualifying round were very disappointing in the majority of cases, many players being firmly convinced they had no chance of being among the fortunate sixteen. However, as so many were off their game there are surprises in store for some, xne first round must be completed by August 31, and the second round commences on September 1, No extension of time may be allowed.

The winners of the August L.G.U. medal round, which was played in conjunction with the second qualifying round, are: Miss E. Buist, 106, 29, 77; Miss E. Burgess, 91, 12, 79; Mrs. Davy, 108, 29, 79; Mrs, McAnerin, 106, 24, 82;,.. Mrs. Gabites, 102, 19, 83; Mrs. Fearon, 115, 33, 82.

Reductions of handicap are: Mrs. Dalgetty, 99, 18; Miss E. Buist, 106, 27. Mrs. Dalgetty’s score, with her other two best cards already in, promoted her to the silver division in time to compete in the senior championship.. There will be no competition on Friday of this week.
