DEATH OF OLD RESIDENT. (From Oar Own Correspondent.) News has been received, of the death at the age of 83 of Mr. 11. W. Tarplee in the Greytown hospital. Mr. Tarpleo was well known in'the Inglewood district, he for many years being c?nployed as head machinist at Henry Browr and Company’s mill. Mr. Tarplee also took a great interest in all local affairs. He was a member of the old Town Board and was also elected to the first Borough Council, of which he remained a member till leaving the district. Mr. Tarplee was very enthusiastic in musical allaiis, he being a member' of the Inglewood band for many years, and he took a keen interest in coaching young bandsmen. Twelve years ago Mi - . Tarplee left for the Wairara.pa district and resided at Carterton until his death. HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL. » The Inglewood ladies’ hockey team to meet Eltham at Stratford on Thursday afternoon in the final for the Taranaki championship will be chosen from the following, players. B. Burkhart, Mrs. Trass, N. Julian, Mrs. Worthington, R. Collingwood, R. Klenner, E. Dobson, Mrs. Dobson, N. Hunt, B. Watkins, L. Collingwood, I. Kingf and D. Nodder. Kirk, reports that the attendance of scholars has been greatly affected recently by a mild form of influenza.
